Understanding Drug Misuse and Substance Use Disorders

NIDA is the global leader in supporting scientific discoveries that lead to reducing the negative health consequences of drug misuse and help people achieve long-term recovery. NIDA-funded research is being done across the country to discover new medications and other interventions to help people achieve long-term recovery and ensure that empirically-demonstrated interventions and services are tailored to high-risk populations, as well as able to implement services across a variety of settings including those most impacted by overdose deaths.
